I briefly visited last week but today, I totally fell in love with the Corinthia Hotel in London. This is the exquisite million pound Baccarat chandelier in the hotel’s central lobby. For more information go to www.corinthia.com/en/London
The Brighton Pier originally opened in May 1899. Brighton is one of my favourite cities in England and I used to live in the nearby countryside so I know it well. My tip for a great hotel in the city would be the Hotel du Vin, which is tucked in a side street just off the seafront. The bar is very New York / industrial in feel with large comfortable sofas and exposed brickwork. It is situated in The Lanes area which is brimming with restaurants, cafes and a mix of independent and High Street stores. My favourite restaurant in Brighton is Havana which serves a mixture of brasserie dishes. If I could live in the beautiful building, which is an old theatre, I would! Another fabulous building is the palace called The Royal Pavillion. My favourite shop in Brighton is a small ‘General Store’ called IGIGI which is actually in the Hove area and is a long walk from the Lanes or a quick cab/bus ride. IGIGI has fabulous candles, luxurious gifts for the discerning homemaker and a cafe upstairs which serves delicious food in a cosy home kitchen atmosphere. They also have a small womenswear shop a few doors down with a great selection of high quality clothing and accessories. A stroll along the seafront is a must especially go down to the beach level and check out the littles bars, shops and art galleries housed in the arches under the road. Last weekend I was invited as part of a select group of event planners to visit the beautiful country estate of Coworth Park Hotel.
We enjoyed a delicious four course dinner in one of the hotel’s beautiful private dining rooms and stayed overnight in a Stable Superior room, the decor of which had touches of equestrian elegance and a sumptuous copper bath tub.
On Saturday I enjoyed a 40 minute facial at the award winning spa. The treatments rooms are the largest I have ever seen at a spa and the staff and facilities were superb.
Coworth Park is the English country estate property within the internationally renowned hotel group, The Dorchester Collection, which includes several of the world’s finest hotels such as London’s iconic Dorchester Hotel, the Hotel Plaza Athenee in Paris and the Beverly Hills Hotel in Los Angeles.
